Drivers union warns of 48-hour bandh on NH-37By HTS

JIRIBAM, June 14 -- "If the culprits involved in the reported intimidations and vandalism at the branch office of All Jiribam Road Transport Drivers Union (AJRTDU) located at Gularthol, do not offer clarifications or apologies before June 13, a 48-hour bandh will be imposed on NH-37."

President of AJRTDU, M. Tombabu Singh stated this at a press-meet held today at the conference hall of Jiri News Network. While condemning the act of the miscreants in pulling down its sign board and the intimidations to change its branch office within 15 days claiming that the area belongs to Tamenglong, he warned that the Union will impose a 48-hour bandh on NH-37 from 6:00 am of June 14 if there are no clarifications or apologies from the culprits.

He further made an appeal to the authorities concerned to nab the culprits at the earliest and take legal actions while also requesting drivers especially those driving 4-wheelers and heavy vehicles to stop plying on the highway during the 48-hour blockade. "If any untoward incidents happen, it would be the responsibility of the individual(s),"he continued while calling for support from CVOs of Jiribam.

The press meet held today also witnessed the attendance of vice president of AJRTDU, Pratap Sanasam and its general secretary, L. Maniton Singh
