IMPHAL, July 14 -- Second National Lok Adalat of the State was held today where various pending cases before the courts as well as pre-litigation matters were taken up at Lamphelpat Court Complex for Imphal East and Imphal West district.

It was organised under the guidelines of National Legal Services Authority, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA). MASLSA member secretary, Manipur High Court Justice, Kh. Nobin, visited Lamphelpat Court on the occasion. Lok Adalat were also organised at Thoubal, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur and Chandel districts by the concerned district legal services authorities.

During the second National Lok Adalat for the State, total number of 588 cases were settled with the amount of Rs. 4,59,66,592. Out of the total, 566 are pre-litigation matters comprising of bank recovery matters, BSNL Telephone and Mobile Phone bill matters, water bill matters while 22 cases were pending before court; comprising of Criminal compoundable cases, Civil cases, Family court cases, insurance claim cases, negotiable instrumental act cases and others.
